Learning & Development Manager (La Porte, IN)

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

We are looking for an experienced, tech-savvy and forward-thinking Training Manager to design, lead, and implement impactful training programs across the organization. This role will focus on onboarding new employees, enhancing the skills of current employees, and building a sustainable “Train-the-Trainer” culture. A strong background in manufacturing processes such as welding, machine operation, and safety protocols is essential. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with creative thinking, enabling them to develop engaging and effective training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Design, develop, and implement training programs across the organization. 
  • Collaborate with HR Team on onboarding activities for new hires, ensuring consistency and compliance with operational standards.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training modules that reflect best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to assess skill gaps and customize training programs to meet identified needs.
  • Establish and lead a Train-the-Trainer program for experienced team members to deliver peer-based learning effectively.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics.
  • Maintain training records and ensure alignment with quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Continuously assess industry trends and incorporate innovative training methods and technologies.
  • Collaborate with HR, Safety, and Operations teams to ensure alignment and integration of training with organizational goals.
  • Develop and mentor a training team that supports the long-term training strategy and evolving needs of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in training or instructional roles.
  • Experience developing and delivering technical training materials, SOPs, and e-learning content that engage learners and motive the team.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills; able to train diverse groups with varying levels of experience.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other preferred training tools (Canva, Adobe Creative, Microsoft PowerPoint, Google workspace is a strong benefit).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a team, multiple projects and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
